Reinforced Aluminized Kapton® Laminate
Reinforced aluminized Kapton® laminate is useful in applications where the natural strength or tear
resistance properties of aluminized Kapton® film are not sufficient for your mission requirements.
The addition of the Nomex® scrim strengthens the aluminized polyimide film from tearing that can be
caused by handling or articulating components. By sandwiching the Nomex® scrim between two layers of
aluminized Kapton® film rather than one layer of aluminized Kapton® film, the low emissivity of the
aluminum layer can be preserved. This property is particularly useful in optimizing thermal insulation while
offering handling protection.
Nomex® aluminized Kapton® laminate is an excellent choice for :
- Low absorptance and emissivity
- Applications that require tear and puncture resistance
- Moderately low to high temperature environments
